With the remarkable growth of these companies in recent years, we now witness that over 7,000 companies are involved in the production of knowledge-based products.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Among these, women occupy executive roles in 706 companies as CEOs, and 2,592 women serve as board members of knowledge-based companies. Additionally, 4,106 individual shareholders of knowledge-based companies are women.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">On the other hand, the pharmaceutical and diagnostic products sector has seen the highest participation of women in technology ecosystem management, with 24% of women either being board members or CEOs of pharmaceutical knowledge-based companies.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">One of these women, who completed her studies in the Netherlands, returned to the country through the &#8220;Return of Non-Resident Iranians&#8221; program supported by the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, after living in the Netherlands for several years. She is now the CEO of a knowledge-based company in the biotechnology sector.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Mohadese Haji Abdolvahab, a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from Utrecht University in the Netherlands, is currently the CEO of a knowledge-based company. She completed her Bachelor&#8217;s and Master&#8217;s degrees in Microbiology with a focus on Genetics in Iran. We had the opportunity to talk with Haji Abdolvahab, who lived in the Netherlands for seven years and has been back in the country for nearly four years, about her motivation for returning to Iran, the differences between studying and researching in Iran and the Netherlands, challenges faced by researchers, and the role of women in research in Iran and abroad.
